If you crave adventure, you will not be disappointed. The route La Chaux – Lourtier is very steep and interspersed with hazards, not to mention the breath-taking landscape.

A physically demanding and technically challenging section of trail takes you from La Chaux to Le Mintzet alpine pasture. Take a moment to enjoy the majestic view over Les Combins before the main event. Once you’ve reached the bottom of the pasture, the entrance gate of the forest marks your arrival in the “no-fall zone”, which is where things start to get serious. The path zigzags over a magnificent forest ridge where you may not even realise how exposed the passage is.

After another 1,000m downhill, you’ll tackle your last big challenge before arriving in the village of Lourtier: a long, straight dash along the embankment of the mountain stream.
Once you arrive in Lourtier, you can make the quick ride to reach the final, panoramic section of Route 5 from Sarreyer. If you used up all your energy on the descent, you can continue directly onto Route 3 instead.
